Digital Wings donations to Down Syndrome Assn have made a difference to their service and members. Here is their chosen example of how digital capability can impact a young life. Andrew is the NZDSA self-advocate on the Consumer Consortium for the Ministry of Health and receives emails from them, responds and does all his work on the laptop. He is a regular contributor to the NZDSA journal – in a centre section called Down Right Brilliant
It is written by people with Down Syndrome for people with Down Syndrome as well as Down Syndrome International forums. It has allowed our Down Syndrome self-advocate a sense of achievement through access to a computer for all the organisations he contributes articles to. This has been very successful development for him. Andrew is very active in his Christchurch community and does presentations when required so the computer allows him to look professional.
